"Content with his position, RJ snuggles into a ball for an evening in his favorite spot in the master bedroom atop the bed with his owner Nancy Edmonds (not pictured) at their home in Aurora, Colo. on May 8, 2008."
This evening at Gabe's memorial service is was very apparent that in addition to his family, friends and fraternity brothers he also loved his dog. During the service they showed a slideshow of images of Gabe with all his friends over the past four years. The service surely had its moments however the stories that his friends and past roommates told kept the mood light, just as he would have wanted it.
As I sat through the service with one of the girls in my group, Kristin, and her sorority sisters it occurred to me that I don't really have any images of our pets. We currently have two cats, RJ and Kazbah. The family dog, Willie, passed away a year ago this past January. In true cliche fashion I made some images of the cats when I got home. The pictures aren't going to win any awards but if there is anything that I learned from the service this evening it's that family is important no matter the circumstances.
I'll be shooting the high school baseball playoffs all day tomorrow in Greeley and I have an early start so I'm going to try and get a few hours of sleep before I have to leave.
