Boulder engagement

"Rachel Sackmaster and Rob Young celebrate their engagement at Chautaqua Park in Boulder, Monday, Feb. 15, 2010. The couple, who met as students at the University of Denver, are set to be married in May."

It's just that time of the year.

I spent a cold President's Day afternoon with Rachel and Rob at Chautaqua Park in Boulder that sits at the base of the gorgeous flatirons. Shooting in cold weather and around snow is always challenging but the benefit is that you can get some some much different images that you don't see very often.

Like several of my couples this year, I met them both at DU and even had a finance class with Rachel during undergrad. I really love working with people who I know and can call friends because they're always much more comfortable in front of the camera and I'm never going to complain about something that makes my job easier. They'll be even more comfortable with me around when they get married at Green Gables Country Club which should produce a gorgeous lakeside ceremony.

Until now I haven't had the chance to shoot in Chautaqua Park so it was a nice change of pace to work in a different environment. Shooting downtown is still one of my favorite places for an engagement but it doesn't say Colorado like these images do.
