Like kids usually do, they picked up right where they left off on Monday and didn't look back. Some had never had a pair of skates on a day in their life the day before and today, they were scoring goals, skating backwards and having a blast doing so.
Off the ice the kids were challenged in both the classroom and in dry land training. I decided to put the camera down for a bit and compete with the kids outside under the careful watchful eye of former Army National Guard Sgt. Rob Blue. Forty-five minutes later I had rug burns on the inside of my knees, abdominal muscles tighter than a drum and arms that felt like spaghetti. That's not even taking into account working out on the composite turf field that had to feel like it was easily over 110 degrees to the touch.
The funny part? I felt amazing afterwards. God only knows what he does with his boot camp participants at the gym he teaches at.
Bring on hump day.
